Parchment hinges on the dampers of a Longman and Broderip square piano which once belonged to Lord Byron's sister Augusta. Note the very old script - obviously recycled parchment!

The handstops on Augusta Byron's Longman and Broderip square piano. One of these raised the dampers up to middle c, one above middle c, and the bottom one raised a strip of leather so that it touched the strings - the "lute" or "harp" stop.
